“Linotype: The Film” Official Trailer from Linotype: The Film on Vimeo.
I have a lot planned for 2011 and think its going to be a really exciting year. For my first post of the year I wanted to talk about a new film that’s coming out in the autumn, its a film about Linotype. The preview looks great and I’m looking forward to seeing the whole film. Old print techniques have always been of interest to me and I think people will revert back to these techniques eventually.
I saw the post about this film on I love Typography, so thanks goes to them for sharing it.
This is an exhibition at the Standpoint gallery put on by the New North Press. It’s a showcase of the work of 20 contemporary letterpress practitioners from around the world, contributions from three leading art colleges and the first eight in an ongoing series of prints with especially invited collaborators.
The private view is on Thursday 9th December and the exhibition runs until 24th December and again in January from the 4th to the 22nd 2011. Looks good, can’t wait to see the work.
About a month ago I cycled to Devon from London, stopping off at Bath for a few nights on my way. I needed something to put on my bike that would hold my gear, I wasn’t going to use a backpack again. It was a mission to find something for my bike that looked good and held plenty. And because it is carbon I couldn’t have panniers. A mate told me about Carradice who have been making cycle bags for 70 years. Above is the saddlebag I bought and it was amazing, cycled the whole 200 miles with no problems at all. The bag is big enough to put a small tent in too, can’t wait to use for camping trips next summer.

Herne Hill Velodrome is the oldest track in Britain, it was built for the 1948 Olympic Cycling Championships. It is in danger of being destroyed. This track is a great asset to London and is in constant use, it can’t be closed down. Sign up to show your support here.
Rapha has been totally on it with their clothing, branding and promotion. Its the best cycling brand by far in my opionion. They have recently teamed up with Ridley Scott Associates to make a series of 3 short films, these films explore the passion, history and drama of cycling. You can watch one of the movies here and more info can be viewed here.
I was chatting to my man Wayne about what we can do with our deejaying the other day. I then remembered these guys in Brooklin with sound systems on there bikes. I wonder if we can get a crew together in London to do this… something to look into I think.
I didn’t realise they made a film about it, will have to check it out. More info here.
